3000ex which claims maximum optical resolution of 1200 pixels per inch (ppi) is beyond 300 ppi you need to scan text for OCR or Scan photos for printing. In our tests, OCR ScanSoft OmniPage SE arrested have any problems to read our test page Times New Roman at 10 points or courtyard Arial at 12 points. Overall assessment in the machine a fair for OCR based on part that is able to read the font size small without errors, and partly on the lack of an ADF. Nice touch one is that OmniPage allows you to scan additional pages into the same file, one by one. You need to run through the Setup routine for the first time you try this, but Setup is quick and easy.
Photo scan quality was a little better than good. Prescans for 4-by-6 and 5-by-7 photo taking 11 to 39 seconds, depending on how much the scanner had to heat up. At a resolution of 300 to 400 ppi, 3000ex which takes 18 to 20 minutes to scan for Arcsoft PhotoStudio who arrested and saving scans. It is slower than some other scanners, but faster than our current editor options, Microtek ScanMaker 6100 Pro.
